The 2021 edition of the Gingerbread House Contest is now available for viewing and voting! View the galleries and vote for you favorites by visiting this page. This year, we had more than double the number of entries from last year, and they’re all incredible. Be sure to check out each creation!

The Virginia PTA has adopted a new, uniform format for ByLaws for all local units, ours included. The Willow Springs Elementary School PTA proposed ByLaws have now been posted for review by the membership, and a vote to adopt the new ByLaws will occur once they have been available for 30 days. Bingo Night is back at Willow Springs on 11/12! One of our most popular events, come enjoy a fun night of bingo games and prizes. Doors open at 6:00 pm and games start at 6:30 pm. Please eat ahead of time, due to COVID, PTA may not be selling any concessions.
Cub Scout Pack 1858 will be collecting food donations as part of the Scouting for Food program.

Bingo cards are available for presale at https://wses1.memberhub.com/store.  Presale orders are eligible for extra raffle tickets per order.

Fall Volunteer Opportunities

Are you interested in participating more hands on with PTA?  The PTA is already planning for activities in the fall and there is room for you!  Whatever your passion and whatever your time availability, we have a place for you.  Opportunities include glow party committee, game night committee, garden club, fundraising, book fair committee, staff appreciation, community relations, fun run committee, movie night committee, membership support, silent auction, fun run, club support, spirit nights, bingo night and Watch Doggs.  Only with your support, the PTA can provide more opportunities for fun and learning for our children and maximize assistance to our teachers.  Contact president@willowspringspta.net for more information.  Sign up now!

Yard Signs

Show your fox pride with a PTA yard sign. Yard signs are available to purchase through the PTA for $20.  We have signs specifically for graduating 6^th graders and ones for all grades.  These are a great way to show off your school spirit.

Staff Appreciation Week

The PTA would like to thank all of the parents who helped make Staff Appreciation Week a success.  The teachers were delighted by the surprises from all the families.  The PTA provided some fun surprises as well to all 120 staff, including fun socks “You’re Toe-tally Awesome”, nachos and chips “Nacho Average Teacher”, plants “Thanks for Helping Us Grow”, and $10 gift cards.  Special thanks to Home Depot, Merrifield Garden Center, and the Chantilly Lowe’s for donating succulents and plants for the staff.  Interested in making next year an even more awesome week?  Sign up now to volunteer with the PTA at president@willowspringspta.net.

 

Restaurant Night 5/24

It’s almost the end of the school year and almost the end of PTA restaurant nights. We’re going back to pizza goodness this month with Mellow Mushroom on 5/24.
Join us at 14335 Newbrook Dr, Chantilly, VA, US 20151 on May 24, 2021 starting at 4:00pm. Mention Willow Springs PTA. Thank you for your support!  Funds raised through restaurant nights are used for things like staff appreciation, virtual game nights, and building upgrades.

Recycle Cans and Help Local Orphanage

Earth Day isn’t limited to just April for Willow Springs. The PTA is helping a student by co-supporting an aluminum drive. Bring your clean aluminum to 13206 Kilby Landing Ct, Clifton and help save the environment. The student’s goal is to collect cans, sell them, and donate the money to a local orphanage, “For Children’s Sake”.

Find out the latest on 6^th grade graduation, fall budget discussions, and upcoming fall student activities at the May PTA meeting.  Please join us here on Wednesday, May 19th, for our virtual PTA membership meeting at 7 pm. Meeting minutes are available on the PTA website at https://willowspringspta.net/pta-docs/.

The PTA will be sponsoring a *FREE* virtual trivia night on May 20th from 7 pm- 8 pm.  Test your knowledge against your peers in this fun, interactive event.  The zoom link will be posted here the day of the event.

The PTA Board election vote will be held at the June PTA meeting.  In the meantime, the PTA must form a 3-member committee to nominate people for the Board for 2021-2022.  This is a great opportunity to help support the local community and shape the direction of the PTA.  The election committee will help to identify people to help fill PTA Executive Board positions for next year.  If you are interested in being on the committee or filling one of these positions, please contact president@willowspringspta.net.  The nominating committee will be formally finalized at the next PTA meeting (held virtually) April 21st at 7pm. 

The PTA has to update its bylaws every 5 years, and this is our magical year. The PTA has posted the updated bylaws here for review: Proposed Updated Bylaws.

Our first PTA meeting of 2021 will be held Thursday, 1/21, at 7:00 p.m. We will have an update from Principal Taylor, and we plan to discuss a variety of topics, including yearbooks, 6th Grade graduation, staff appreciation, upcoming restaurant nights, and community outreach.
